Brilliant Grad!!

Hello all!
Hope you have had  a great weekend!!
Mine has been busy and very productive!!
Here is what I have been upto!

I made this card for the Friday Mashup challenge and the Dynamic Duos challenge.
My inspiration for this card came from a vector image of a graduation cap that I found on google images.

The background stamp, I'm sure you will all recognise by now...Starburst from Hero Arts!
The light bulb and sentiment are from  the Technique Tuesday 'Bright Idea' stamp set...another favourite!
Inks are memento Dandelion and Versafine Onyx Black.
The sentiment is heat embossed with American Crafts embossing powder.

To make the graduation cap, I used my square nestabilities dies and my circle punch. I cut and trimmed till I got the right effect. The tassels are made with Baker's Twine from the Twinery.

I thinks it looks really cool...don't you?!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
Good night!

Faux airbrushing and other challenges.

I made a resolution this past weekend..to be disciplined about my card making and take part in whichever challenges I can.
Here is my first effort!
I am entering this card for the Craft Stamper 'Take it, Make it Challenge' using the 'Faux Airbrushing' technique.
I am also entering it for

'the Friday mashup'102 Challenge.

I used Tim Holtz tea dye distress ink with the Crafter's Workshop 6x6 template 'mini retro squares' stencil, to create the faux airbrush effect.
The stamps are 'hello bubble' from HA, it's a special day cling rubber stamp from Stampendous, and Grass Print from 'The Ink Pad' NYC.
The butterflies are from the Spellbinders Wonderful Wings die set. I also embossed them using Cuttlebug swirls embossing forlder. The Red butterfly was cut from paper which I stamped using Stampendous Geo Dot border with Versafine Crimson red ink.
Other inks are from Memento..Tuxedo Black and Rich Cocoa.
Self adhesive gemstones, raffia and cardstock is from local stores.

An elegant border

To make this card, I stamped the Elegant Borders stamp set from Stampendous, with Rich Cocoa ink from Memento on an ivory 4"x6" folded card.
I then cut it out and inserted a piece of kraft cardstock (cuttlebug embossed) under it.
I stamped my 'Stampin'Up" roses and leaves onto coloured paper from my 'Making Memories" 6"x6" paper pad,  and cut them out.
I pieced the roses together to create a motif.
The sentiment is a peel-off sticker from 'Anita's'. I finished it off with some adhesive gemstones and pearls bouught locally.
I love the way it has turned out. I hope you like it too!

The last of the photocards in this series, this background was inspired by a pillow case that I have!
I just fell in love with the colour combination!

The focal image is, again, a photograph that I took at Highline Park in New York. Isn't it a cute sparrow!
