Cards that dangle...

I was looking for something to do with my kids in class this week. So, I picked up a book I've had fore quite a while ago...'Pop-Up Cards' with Sandi Genovese.
I spent A LOT of time making my samples before my class...
Here's what I came up with...An X card with little dangles...enough to bring a smile to anyone's face.

Background stamp is from Hero Arts. I stamped, coloured , cut out and stuck the butterfly to add dimension. The white ink adds fabulous dimension, don't you think?

More coloured and cut out butterflies...I added a piece of vellum whose edge I punched with a lace punch, to create space for writing a message.  Since an  X card is visible on all four sides, there is something on all four sides to enjoy.

The butterfly dangles are punched out of coloured vellum and stuck together with  a piece of silver thread between them.

Making tissue box covers!

Oh what fun we had this week! So much creativity from my little ones!
We made tissue box covers for the Jackson Maruti tissue box. Each and every one of the kids came up with   something unique...these pictures will describe them better!

Now, inspired by the sunflower...

Taking the sunflower theme a step further, we made these magnetic Post It  notepad holders, in class. The kids loved making them and I think their mums' did too!

The gorgeous sunflower from Mexico!

We visited Mexico city last week! I was enthralled by the colours there! And of course, the Sunflower...everywhere! From the vase at my bedside in my friends' home, to every street corner and the motifs on everything possible!
Here are some of my impressions...

I've been inspired

After many days of a major creative block, I received inspiration in the most amazing way! As I was dropping my daughter off to her story writing class, I passed a young girl on the street wearing a t-shirt with colourful tags printed on it.  It was just a glance, but it triggered off a wave of creativity! Here is the result...

Stamps are from Hero Arts "small variety alphabet" stamp set. The stamp '2' is from the Stampendous "calligraphy alphabet" stamp set. The buildings (with the wires connecting them...a common sight in India!), I have doodled, as also the clouds and the little tiny birds(crows...also a common sight in India!)

The stamps that she used were from Hero Arts, but since I did not have the stamp, I improvised. I used the same peek-a-boo concept....I created  a stencil by punching out a square from a piece of card. I then used it to draw a square. Then using the stencil as a mask I stamped the Hero Arts "Hydrangea" stamp in different ways. Then I coloured it in, cut out the squares and stuck them on a white card. The sentiment is from the  Hero Arts "everyday sayings" stamp set.

Here I've used the same technique, using a stamp from Cherish Stamps. I've made matching envelopes too!

Here I have used the Hero Arts "Antique Brocade" cling stamp to create a background. To follow the pattern, I punched out two cosmos flowers and folded them over to create a carnation. I punched

out a tulip to form the base of the flower. I then stamped the  background on another piece of cardstock and cut out a frame using my Spellbinders Nestabilities scalloped rectangles. To add interest in the flower, I have coloured it a bit with orange and yellow coloured pencils and also

shaded the tulip with darker and lighter green coloured pencils. i finished off the project by adding some green gemstones.

My Valentine's offering to my husband!

I made this card using the Fiskars embossing plate in the Cuttlebug. The stamp is from Fiskars too. I added the hearts on the sugar cubes. I love the way it has turned out...after 17 years, hubby dear needs to be reminded once in a while..
