Fun with Mandalas

Hello!!

Did you know that Craftangles has the most amazing Mandala stencils?

For my Diwali cards today, I decided to use a their stencils to create some different backgrounds.

The cards are pretty simple and very quick and easy to make so I will list the supplies as I go along. If you have any questions as to my method, please leave me a comment.

Card 1: Stencil: Mandala reloaded, blended with Tim holtz 'Mustard seed' distress ink .

Stamp: Happy Diwali , Diwali Sentiments

Card 2: Stencil: 4 leaf lace

inks: Tim Holtz 'Carved Pumpkin' and 'Fiery Brick'

The Om die cut is cut from gold mirror cardstock

Playing with Craftangles new release!

Hello!!

Have you see the brand new release from Craftangles?!!

The characters and sentiment stamps are so versatile, I will be playing with them for a long time!!

Diwali Sentiments

For the first card, I stamped and masked the various characters to create a group.

I then used watercolour pencils to colour in the characters and then added the sentiment from the brand new diwali stamp set from Craftangles Diwali Sentiments

The second card is even more fun!!

I decided to make a shadow box pop up card!

I started with a super simple cover for the card..I used the 'Hearts all around' stencil and Tim Holtz 'bubble gum' distress ink, and a simple sentiment from the 'From all of us' stamp set.

For the pop up inside, I used the women stamps from the 'People of India' and 'World's Best' stamps sets to create a cute pop up! I used another simple sentiment on the inside to finish the card.

For the final project, I decided to use the characters and the stamps to create a couple of cute gift tags.

I really love how all these projects turned out.

Playing with Craftangles diwali stamps and stencils

Hello!

I am so excited to be playing with my Craftangles DT pack this week!

I have used the 'Diwali wishes', 'Celebrating Diwali', 'Diwali Greetings' stamp sets and 

the 'Starry Lights' stencil and the Craftangles coloured Cardstock to make these cards.

For the first card, I have used hero arts neon inks with the Craftangles 'Starry Lights' stencil to create the background and to colour the diya. 

I added a gold embossed sentiment on vellum and used Craftangles Aqua cardstock as the cardbase to finish the card. 

Sweet and simple!

For the second card, I used the same stencil as above but used Tim Holtz 'Mustard seed' and 'Fired Brick' distress inks to create the background.

I popped up the water coloured and fussy cut family with foam tape, added the sentiment and then used Craftangles 'Navy Blue' cardstock to make the card base.

For my third card, I used a brick embossed card panel onto which I adhered the water coloured and fussy cut lamp. I then gold embossed and stamped the sentiment onto Craftangles 'Ruby Red' card stock and used the same card stock to make a card base too.

I don't usually use coloured card bases, but I am loving these cards from Craftangles. I have many more colours to play with so stay tuned!!

Diwali cards using Craftangles foils

Hello!

I have been addicted to foiling ever since Craftangles has released their brilliant foils!

Here are some Diwali cards and tags that I have made using these foils.

To make the shaker tag below, I have heat embossed the Ganesh image with clear embossing powder before using the gold foil.

After many trials, I found that I must ensure that the clear embossing powder is even and not splotchy. Only then does it get covered evenly with the foil, when put through the laminator.

There has been a lot of discussion about the way to apply the foil. I have achieved best results by putting the laser printed image or heat embossed image through a laminator, along with the foil.

I created another Shaker tag using playing card die cuts as shaker elements. For the background, I heat embossed and foiled the fireworks and Diwali sentiment 

from Craftangles Happy diwali stamp set.

For this card, I die cut the beautiful diwali sentiment from Diecuts and more,  from a sheet of black toner paper...which is nothing more than a sheet of black that I printed out on my laser printer.

I then used the Craftangles copper foil which covered this die cut so beautifully.

I diecut the same sentiment from a background panel and then dry embossed the panel with paisleys.

Finally I inlaid the diecut to complete the  simple card.

I finished it off by adding a few Craftangles clear sequins.

I am submitting this card for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday  'add a sentiment' challenge.

This card below, is by far my favourite!

I die cut this beautiful diya from Diecuts and more from toner paper and then used the Craftangles rainbow foil to cover it.

Once done, I diecut a piece of white fun foam with the same die and used it to pop up the diya on the dry embossed background.

Here, I used the negative piece of the rainbow foil that I used above to create another diya.

For this diya, I first clear heat embossed a piece of paper and then run it with the negative foil piece  through the laminator. Once done, I trimmed the diya  and popped it up on the dry embossed Craftangles sapphire blue card background with some foam tape.

I finished both the cards with some Craftangles clear sequins.

Diwali cards for our soldiers.

Hello!

For my DT post for CraftAdda today, I am using the fabulous Diwali stamp sets from Craftangles.

I was encouraged by my dear friend Neha Gala  who is collecting cards to send to our brave soldiers who could not go home for Diwali.

I was pushed out of my comfort zone, but, I am really thrilled with the cards I made.

For this card, I started by creating a background using the large diya in the 

Happy Diwali stamp set from Craftangles.

I heat embossed the background with Craftangles clear embossing powder. I then blended the background using Memento  Cottage Ivy and Memento Tangelo inks. Once blended, I flicked some water onto the background and lifted off some colour. 

I then placed a scrap sheet of paper over the panel and ironed off the embossing powder.

I then gold embossed the sentiment on a strip of vellum and attached it to the card panel. I used three star shaped buttons in the tricolours as an embellishment.

I finished the card panel by placing it on a kraft card base.

For this card, I started with stamping the fireworks stamp in the Indian tricolour on a piece of white cardstock cut with Simon Says Stamp's stitched rectangle die.

I added a gold embossed sentiment on a vellum panel and added a watercolured diya. I finished the card by placing the card panel on a kraft card base.

For this card, I started by using TimHoltz sun rays stencil and colouring in with Memento Cottage Ivy and Tangelo inks.

I then added a gold embossed sentiment on vellum and a watercoloured diya. I then finished the card by placing the panel on a kraft card base.

For this card, I created a dark sky background for the very first time!!!! I am so thrilled with the way this card turned out.

I clear embossed the fireworks and then blended the background using memento and Tim Holtz inks.

I then flicked some water onto the background.

I then stamped, watercoloured and fussy cut the small diyas from 

the Craftangles Happy Diwali stamp set. 

I added the tricolour panel at the bottom of the card to anchor the diyas and stamped the sentiment onto the panel.

Craft Adda New release

Have you seen the fabulous new Diwali release 

'Festival of Lights' and ' Happy diwali ' stampsets

 from CraftAdda?!

These stamps are superb quality and when stamped the images are super crisp!

I have used some of these gorgeous stamps to create a set of  3"x4"notecards...perfect for the festive season!

I used a range of techniques to make these notecards... masking, rubber stamping, watercolouring, emboss resist and heat embossing. 

For this card, I first gold embossed the rangoli pattern from the 'Festival of lights' stamp set. I then masked off half the card using post it tape and used Tim Holtz distress inks  Fired Brick and Dried Marigold to blend the colours. I used a paisley stamp on the coloured background to create some interest. I finished the card with gold embossed sentiment from the same stamp set.

Handcarved rubber stamps

Hello!!

This past month I have been playing around and making handcarved rubber stamps using speedball rubber sheets (you can also use large size erasers like Staedler) and speedball carving tools.

Here are some images showing the process.

I found this particular design on Pinterest.

It took me a while to work out...was very satisfying in the end!

The stamps are carved our of a thick rubber sheet. They have no capability to cling to an acrylic surface. So in order to use them with an acrylic block, 

I used a reusable cling sheet 'Tack 'n' Peel from Tsukineko.

I cut and mounted this sheet on an acrylic block to provide a cling surface for all my hand carved stamps. Now stamping with these homemade stamps is super easy.

I used Tim Holtz distress inks to stamp on textures card stock to give it an uneven fabric like feel.

ICR Auto2 Sketch and Diwali card challenge...Celebrating orange

Welcome to the Indian Craft Room... a place where you can join in and have fun with loads of crafters!
I am posting today as Indian Craft Room DT  for the ICR Auto 2 challenge..."Sketch +Diwali".
This is also a card celebrating the colour Orange...in my navratri series!

I used Lawn Fawn's 'Lunar Lights' stamp set for this card and added a sentiment from Hero Arts' Holiday Sayings' stamp set. the sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh.

This was a tough one, but I enjoyed it!

Diwali triangles

Hey there!
Here is the card that I made for the Indian Craft room  Coasteride 'triangle' challenge.
For this card, I created a panel using the 'Friendly flags' stamp set  and neon inks from Hero Arts.I used the assorted alphabet stamps from Hero Arts for the sentiment. The 'happy' die is from Winnie and Walter and the I created the background using a flower stamp from Stampendous and London fog ink from Memento. I cut two strips of gold embossed card stock to line the edges of the triangles and finish the card.
I like the cheerful, festive colours...don't you?

And the final few diwali cards

And here are the final few cards that I have made for the season. 

For this batch of cards, I stamped (Hero Arts) and watercoloured a panel, cut it up and used it on various cards. 

The gold stripes background is from Impression Obsession and the sentiments are from the Hero Arts 'Holiday Saying' stamp set.

I have to mention here, that, I was inspired to make this motif/background, by the design on a fisherwoman's saree! It was a flash as I passed by in a cab...but thankfully my brain registered  and filed  away the design and I was able to work it out when I got home! So this set of cards is particularly special!
