Craftangles new release..Dangling leaves stencil.

Hello.

Today, card no1 is a simple card made using Craftangles newly released 'dangling leaves" stencil.

I started from the top of the white card stock panel and stencilled the leaves using 'Bamboo leaves' and 'Pear tart' inks from memento.

At the base, I used Tim Holtz 'Woodgrain' stencil to simulate water in a pond.

I then added the die cut butterfly (from spellbinders) and a sentiment from 

Craftangles 'Love is in the air' stampset.

The sentiment is heat embossed using Craftangles silver embossing powder.

A sweet and simple card..just the way I like it!

The stencilling in this card is inspired by this card by Rahmat Ghouse.

I am submitting this card for The Paper Players 'Clean and simple-butterflies' challenge.

For card no 2, I've used the same colours as above with the Dangling leaves stencil.

Here I added a fussy cut motorbike and sentiment from Craftangles "Roadtrip" stamp set.

For card no 3, 

I have used the newly released Craftangles 'Ripples' stencil, with stamps 

from the Craftangles 'Roadtrip stamp set'.

I have used 'Cantaloupe', 'Desert Sand' and 'Rich cocoa' inks

 to create sand ripples on textured cardstock.

I stamped and die cut the bike with 'Rich cocoa' and layered it over a piece of vellum. 

I then added the sentiment using my Misti tool and also added some brown sequins to finish the card.

For the last card, I used Craftangles 'Ripples' stencil with TimHoltz distress inks

(Broken china, Faded jeans and Chipped Sapphire)

to create ripples in the sea.

I then used the stencil to draw with a pencil on a piece of vellum which I then cut to create a mask.

Then, I stamped the boat (from Paper smooches 'Wicked Nautical' stamp set) over the mask to make it appear as if it is being tossed by the waves.

I then coloured the boat and paper pieced a little bird from the same stamp set to add some cheer.

The sentiment is from the Craftangles 'Road trip' stamp set..which I heat embossed on vellum using Craftangles gold embossing powder.

As an after thought, I added some stars using Winnie and Walter's star stencil.

Absolutely love the cards I made today...mojo has been away..hoping its back!!

How I photograph my cards

Hello!

I am back with another post for Indian Craft Room...this time about Photographing Greeting Cards.

Apologies for not posting yesterday, as promised!

I'm Paru Mahtani, an avid cardmaker and photogrpahy enthusiast. My passion for  card making led to a need to photograph my work; hence developed an interest in photography. Once I started exploring this hobby, it became addictive!

There are so many good blog posts, video and discussions on the internet about photographing you cards/crafts/art work. Thanks to the popularity of online shopping, crafters have realised the tremendous importance of photography!

The lessons I have learnt in my 15 plus  years of making cards are...

1. Research!! Research!! Research!!

Read blogs, look at others photos, read what they say about their photography processes, look at photos on Pinterest and Instagram and learn!

2. Take a few photography classes to earn how to master your camera. 

Then you can create some amazing photos.

3. If you have a spot with great natural light, that's fantastic! If like most people, you don't, make an inexpensive lightbox (learn how to make one here.) and learn how to use it! 

The results are amazing!!

Here is an image of my set up...it's not perfect (the light box is a little wonky) 

but the results I get are just fab.

I have set it up at a height so that I don't have to bend. I have a put a little side table on top of my dining table and then placed the light box on top of it.

The lights are 'Sonia Trilights'. They have an adjustable stand and it is continuous  white light.

These are photography studio lights, but the same can be acheived with any continuous light.

I use a Canon 7D dslr, but very often take photos with my iphone if I dont have time to set up the light box.

I usually make a bunch of cards and  photograph them all together.

It's a boy...Craft tangles

Hey there!

I have made a card for CraftAdda today using the "It's a Boy " 6"x6" paper pack from Craftangles.

I used the mama elephant stitched die to cut the square cardstock panel and insert the patterned paper. This card is for my neices inlaws(...my neice just had a baby boy).

I kept the sentiment simple(Hero Arts) but added all the relationships I could think of to create the background. The stamps are from Paper Smooches "Kin Folk' stamp set.

I finished the card with enamel dots from Hero Arts.

 I can't wait for them to receive it!!

Congrats Grandma and Grandpa

Hey!

I a playing the Retro sketches rs#213 this evening with this card I made for my cousins who are expecting their first grandchild.

I made it using the 'Its a Boy' 6"x6" paperpack from Craft Adda.

I also used baby themed brads from Recollections and enamel dots for interest. 

The heat embossed sentiment on vellum is combined from Hero Arts and Paper smooches stamp sets.

Here is my inspiration for you this month.

As I could not find readymade pocket letters as you have seen in the videos above, I decided to make my own.

To make my pocket letter, I started with a 12"x12" sheet of patterned paper from Papericious.

I then measured and cut nine pieces of vellum to fit on this sheet.

I then held them in place with a strip of post it tape and sewed them in place with my sewing machine.

I then used Simon Says Stamp's Stitched rectangles die to die cut the inserts for the pockets.

I then went ahead and decorated each insert with images and sentiments for Mother's day!

This is my first pocket letter and I loved making it!

For this card, I used a stampendous cling stamp and watrcoloured with Sakura Koi water colours.

To make this card, I elements I used are 1. The colorful paint tubes, 2. The chalk board and 3. The drawing on the chalk board (hand lettered sentiment).

I used the paint tube stamp from Paper smooches 'I heart art' stamp set to make this card.  I Stamped a couple of tubes on masking paper, cut them out and used them to create this background. I then colored in the tubes using faber castell color pencils.

I hand lettered the Happy Birthday sentiment on a piece of black card stock and used it to finish the card.

I think its really bright and cheerful, don't you?

Winter wonderland

Hey there! 

I am playing the Simon Says Stamp "winter wonderland challenge" today. 

Of all the christmas cards I made this year, this one is my absolute favourite!

To make this card, I cut a square panel using the Simon Says Stamp stitched squares die and dry embossed it with the Cuttlebug folder.

I then placed the building die cut (from Paper Smooches) on the panel, added a spellbinders shapeabilities leaf, added the sentiment (from Hero Arts) and the card was done!

I adhered some yellow paper behind the windows of the building to bring some warmth to the image. 

To me it represents a winter wonderland!
